Good Neighbor Pharmacy Receives “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Chain Drug Store Pharmacies” from J.D. Power

Pharmacy network takes top honor among chain drug stores for 4th year in a row

VALLEY FORGE, Pa.  – Today, Good Neighbor Pharmacy– a national independent pharmacy network offered through AmerisourceBergen – announced that it has been ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Chain Drug Store Pharmacies” in the J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Pharmacy Study, with a score of 915 out of 1,000. This marks the ninth time Good Neighbor Pharmacy has earned the achievement in the last eleven years.

“I would like to congratulate all of our wonderful Good Neighbor Pharmacy members for once again being recognized for their outstanding commitment to the health and wellness of the customers they serve. J.D. Power’s findings reflect how our independent pharmacies are going above and beyond to support patients – especially during a time when they need trusted, accessible care the most,” said Brian Nightengale, President of Good Neighbor Pharmacy and SVP, Community & Specialty Pharmacy at AmerisourceBergen. “At AmerisourceBergen and Good Neighbor Pharmacy, we recognize the critical role that pharmacists play in patient health, and their role is growing as the health care system adapts to COVID-19 challenges. We are constantly evolving to support our pharmacies as they look to diversify their business beyond dispensing to support patients through other meaningful health and wellness services.”

The J.D. Power study revealed that pharmacy operators are positioning and embracing themselves as hubs of consumer healthcare, driving higher overall satisfaction and increased spending as they use more health and wellness-oriented services.
Good Neighbor Pharmacy ranked #1 in all five factors:

  • Pharmacist
  • Non-pharmacist staff
  • Store
  • Cost competitiveness
  • Prescription ordering and filling process

“At Good Neighbor Pharmacy, we focus on helping pharmacists enhance relationships with their patients and communities, by providing services and programs that help our members connect with patients wherever they are, whether in-store or online,” said Jenni Zilka, Group Vice President, Good Neighbor Pharmacy Field Programs and Services. “As communities across the U.S. continue to respect social distancing in the wake of COVID-19, it is essential that independent pharmacies continue to find ways to engage with their patients remotely and digitally. J.D. Power Pharmacy Study’s findings that digital ordering drives patient satisfaction demonstrates that our approach and investment in digital services is working and it’s what patients need, especially now.”

The U.S. Pharmacy Study, now in its twelfth year, measures customer satisfaction with brick-and-mortar and mail-order pharmacies. The 2020 study is based on responses from 13,378 pharmacy customers who filled a prescription during the three months prior to the survey period of September 2019-May 2020.
