The AmerisourceBergen Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit charitable giving organization, established by the AmerisourceBergen Corporation with a mission to improve the health and well-being of patient populations – both human and animal – by partnering with organizations to expand access to healthcare in order to advance health equity around the world.

Foundation governance

The Foundation is governed by a majority independent Board of Directors. A Grantmaking Committee made up of leaders from across the enterprise is responsible for reviewing applications, resolving questions, interpreting eligibility requirements, and approving requests for grants.  Together, the Foundation Board of Directors and Grantmaking Committee provide effective, on-going decision-making on behalf of the Foundation.

Our focus on access to healthcare

We believe that health equity can only be achieved by providing access to healthcare for all. The AmerisourceBergen Foundation collaborates with organizations to implement projects that have a goal of providing everyone, both humans and animals, with a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. Our strategic pillars include:

Human health

Supporting access to healthcare for underserved populations around the globe

Animal health

Improving the health of service, companion, and production animals that support humans and advance disaster response efforts

Prescription drug safety

Combating prescription drug misuse through safe disposal, innovative solutions, and mental health support
Note to prospective grantees
We are proud of our commitment to deep lasting partnerships with our grantees around the world as well as supporting the organizations our team members care about through our matching gifts and volunteer/non-profit Board service grants programs. However, we are not currently accepting new requests for partnerships or funding.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

At the AmerisourceBergen Foundation, we foster diverse, equitable and inclusive partnerships that create healthier lives and communities. We aim to advance health equity and access to healthcare by collaborating with organizations who strive for diversity, equity and inclusiveness in their own organizations and the communities they serve, as we partner to create healthier futures.

Diversity, equity and inclusion is woven throughout everything we do at the AmerisourceBergen Foundation. We seek to measure our programs and the programs we support within a framework of health equity. And we are committed to continually improving our practices and procedures to ensure equity and inclusivity among all of our stakeholders and building partnerships that result in real lasting change.
