AmerisourceBergen & Good Neighbor Pharmacy Share Vaccine Ordering Trends as COVID-19 Cases Rise in U.S.

Brian Nightengale, President, Good Neighbor Pharmacy

Good Neighbor Pharmacy, AmerisourceBergen’s network of independent community pharmacies, has served as a “network administrator” placing orders of COVID-19 vaccines with the CDC for independently owned and operated community pharmacies across the country since the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program began in early February 2021.

Over the last 6 weeks, Good Neighbor Pharmacy has witnessed COVID-19 vaccine ordering trends among its program partners, which currently includes more than 1,500 pharmacies across the U.S. In the last 6 weeks, ordering of COVID-19 vaccines has increased 215% across the Good Neighbor Pharmacy program.

The upward trend of vaccine ordering has been dictated mostly by the states in our program with the largest populations (CA, TX, NJ, FL, NY, PA), except for Arkansas. In Arkansas, we have seen an 889%  increase in ordering month-over-month from June to July.

“We’re seeing a positive uptick in COVID-19 vaccine orders across our program and hopefully that will support increased vaccination rates over the next few weeks,” said Brian Nightengale, President of Good Neighbor Pharmacy. “Independent pharmacies have had an incredible track record of getting COVID-19 vaccines out into the public. We encourage those that are unvaccinated to reach out and talk to their local community pharmacist about COVID-19 vaccination.”
