Perspectives from Our Interns

Hear what our interns have to say about their experience in our community.

What did you want to be when you were younger and how is your internship similar or different?

“I wanted to be a doctor when I was younger, but now I am an engineering student. Although my career path has changed, my internship at AmerisourceBergen still allows me to care for patients, but in a less direct way. As an engineering intern at American Health Packaging, I help ensure that quality hospital unit dose medications are packaged and delivered to patients all over the country.” – Anne Fox, Engineering and Health Packaging Summer 2018 Intern, AmerisourceBergen, Columbus OH

What is the most unexpected thing you've learned at AmerisourceBergen?

“There are a lot of moving parts and AmerisourceBergen does an excellent job of keeping the company internally connected. Through this internship, I learned how important it is for the different departments to work in conjunction with each other.” - Austin Brethauer, Strategic Global Sourcing Summer 2018 Intern, AmerisourceBergen, Conshohocken PA

How has AmerisourceBergen welcomed you into your role?

“My manager has been very supportive and guided me throughout the internship. He has encouraged me to explore different career options and interact with different people in the company. I felt that everyone in my department was as excited to have me on the team as I was to be there. My manager has been a guide and mentor.” – Surbhi Chowdhary, Payer Strategy Summer 2018 Intern, US Bioservices, Frisco TX

What skills have you developed through this internship?

“While in Washington, I have had the pleasure of being surrounded by extremely efficient and effective communicators. It has been very insightful to observe how individuals can convey their message in a persuasive, non-threating way. This has helped me refine my own communication skills, picking up on tips and tricks for starting and carrying on conversations. I’ve also grown in my ability to make decisions. When living in a fast-paced environment like Washington DC, it’s crucial to be able to make choices in a timely manner and respond to the ever-changing atmosphere.”

-Madison Malsch, Government Affairs Summer 2018 Intern, AmerisourceBergen, Washington DC
