AmerisourceBergen is one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical services companies. While our business has historically focused on pharmaceutical distribution, over the last several years, we have added other services along the pharmaceutical supply channel that help manufacturers get their products to market more efficiently and enable healthcare providers to provide more efficient and effective care.
AmerisourceBergen was formed in 2001 following the merger of AmeriSource Health Corporation and Bergen Brunswig Corporation. AmeriSource and Bergen were both successful pharmaceutical distributors that served similar markets but covered somewhat different geographies. Bringing the two together gave the company a strong national presence that was geared especially towards serving independent community pharmacies, regional retail chain pharmacies, hospitals, physician offices, clinics and other alternate care facilities.
Today, AmerisourceBergen has 26 pharmaceutical distribution centers in the US, 12 distribution centers in Canada, 3 specialty distribution centers in the US, and over 1 million square feet of packaging production capacity in the US and the UK. We have over 11,500 associates, including more than 1,000 dedicated to providing reimbursement consulting services, physician education services, and other services aimed at making the pharmaceutical supply channel more efficient and effective.
