Charitable Giving
Our Charitable Giving Philosophy:
At AmerisourceBergen we recognize that the economic, social and physical environment in which our company operates can affect our success as an enterprise. We also recognize that our actions can have an impact on the communities in which we operate.
Therefore, we acknowledge our responsibility as a good corporate citizen to contribute some of our resources back to our communities.
By doing so, we will:
• Help the less fortunate.
• Support our mission in healthcare.
• Enhance our image with our communities, customers, associates and employment recruits.
• With that understanding, we identify three fundamental elements in our Charitable Contributions Philosophy:
First, the company must be financially successful. The foundation of AmerisourceBergen Corporation’s corporate citizenship is our ongoing financial success. Our financial success as an enterprise will be a major factor in determining the level of resources that we can devote to charitable contributions.
Second, we must understand and be sensitive to the legitimate interests of our various constituencies – including shareholders, communities, neighbors, associates and customers.
Third, we will apply initiative and creativity as well as financial support towards improving the economic, social and physical well-being of the environment in which our company operates, and will encourage and support the efforts of our associates to make their own contributions as well.

Our Mission
The mission for the AmerisourceBergen Charitable Contributions Program is to serve local institutions and agencies in communities where the company operates through direct donations, volunteer support and healthcare education. Our contributions program focuses on improving the mental, social and physical well-being of the elderly populations in those communities. Special consideration for contributions will be given to qualifying programs in which AmerisourceBergen associates are involved through volunteer efforts or other active support.
AmerisourceBergen Charitable Contributions Committee
The AmerisourceBergen Charitable Contributions Committee serves as a vehicle to fund charitable and educational organizations supported by AmerisourceBergen and its associates. Requests to the Committee are evaluated against established guidelines to determine if the program is consistent with the overall mission and philosophy of our contributions program.
General Guidelines
• Tax Status – The Committee supports nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations qualified under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
• Geographic Interest – While the Committee will consider a limited number of projects of a national scope, emphasis is placed on organizations in the communities where AmerisourceBergen associates live and work.
• Contribution Priorities – Consistent with the program’s Mission, the Committee will give to programs supporting the mental, social and physical well-being of elderly populations, with priority to services in communities in which we operate.
• Community Involvement – Special consideration for contributions will be given to programs that support the Mission and focus of the Committee and in which AmerisourceBergen associates are involved through volunteer programs or other active support, and/or are recommended by community relations teams at AmerisourceBergen facilities.
• Management and Measurement – The AmerisourceBergen Charitable Contributions Committee funds organizations that demonstrate competence, effectiveness and sound management practices. Organizations seeking funds from AmerisourceBergen must provide information on how project success will be evaluated or measured.
• Project Support – While some unrestricted funding is provided, the Committee prefers to fund specific projects.
Giving Restrictions
The AmerisourceBergen Charitable Contributions Committee generally does not make contributions:
• To individuals, private foundations, international, fraternal, social, labor or veterans organizations.

Our Associates Involvement
Across the country, associates and different business units are involved with several organizations – giving their time, energy and financial resources. In the past few years, their efforts have helped to raise awareness and funds for specific medical conditions, assist the less fortunate, provide educational assistance to students, and support community-wide efforts. AmerisourceBergen recognizes their diverse commitments and applauds their involvement.
